In a tribute to San Francisco's Indian summer, I presented my Spring / Summer 2013 line of swimsuits and day-glo shoes in a series of afternoon "fash mobs" across the city, with three hip-hop dancers leading the pack and a booming portable soundsystem bringing up the rear.

I started IlanioWear in 2004 with my partner Claudia. Focused squarely on clubwear staples like spandex, pleather, and faux fur, IlanioWear had attracted a loyal following of burners and other freaks by the time it closed in 2009. Although the line afforded us a good amount of levity and experimentation -- cf. our two-person coat -- we found our artistic energy frustrated by the time demands and creative constraints of a retail business.
